I am making up a daily Bible reading schedule. Here is the month of January. I am making it where you’ll go through the Bible about four times in the year, but what I am going to do is change some of the days as I get into later months. You’ll still go through it four times, but you’ll have some extra reading too. For example, I think I am going to use 1 Corinthians 13 for Valentine’s Day, the gospel narratives at Christmas, resurrection story at Easter, pentecost on pentecost, etc. I haven’t figured out exactly how I am going to do it all yet. Hopefully I can use this year as a trial and see what holidays are good to change. If anyone wants to join in on my experiment, by all means, do so and give me suggestions.

Also, I am ignorant…much more ignorant than I should be…about the structure of the psalms. If anyone can help me divide psalm reading calendar better, please help. Maybe one of those days should be divided. I have seen people divide the psalms into 3 books and 5 books. I am a bit confused about it all :-) Also, I am really interested in doing some in depth study of the Psalms, so if anyone could lead me to some helpful sources, I’d appreciate it.

Editing my blog is hopeless. I can’t figure out why I can’t add links without the whole thing glitching. When I try to change something, blogger changes code that I do not touch. I added some New Year’s pics into my photo album.

Excerpts from The Temple by George Herbert
Perirrhanterium
2
Beware of lust: it pollutes
The person whom God in Baptism has washed with his own blood.
It erases the lesson that has been written in thy soul;
The holy lines of Scripture cannot be understood.
How dare thou cast those eyes upon a Bible,
Much less toward God, when lust is the book they read?
3
Practice abstinence or get married. Thy gracious Lord
Allows thee to choose thy path: take no shortcuts,
But gladly welcome what he offers
Without complaining; thy lust has boundaries.
The Lord rejoices in they restraint; consider both lust and purity;
If filthiness is more attractive to thee, let Heaven go.
10
Do not take his name, who made thy mouth, in vain:
it gets thee nothing and has no excuse.
Lust and winde at least provide a pleasure, greed gain:
But the cheap swearer through his open mouth
Lets his soul run for nothing, as little fearing.
Were I an Epicure, I could stop my swearing.

“the fly that feeds on dung is colored by it.”

Sometimes you have these friends that you were once very close to. As time passes, they forget you. I never really forget those friends though. Perhaps it is difficult because I keep a prayer box. I end up pulling out a notecard to pray for these friends everyday. Constant reminder. So even when they’ve forgotten me, I have to remember them and pray for them. Why is it such a miserable feeling to know you’re forgotten?
