I have a blog?

Okay, it’s been forever since I’ve blogged, but for good reason. Rick is a slavedriver. If I had a nickel for every time he asked for a drink of water….

But really, having Rick here has made me wonder if an entire lifetime is going to be enough to spend with him. I have claimed him as my own and I seriously doubt that I’ll let him go back home. Here’s a few of my favorite moments with him:

On the couch, I listen to him read a Peter Rabbit book to me

Getting up early on a Tuesday morning to go into town for job interviews, we stare at my two little siblings, bundled up in their winter gear, lying like slugs on the floor in front of the door

“Let my prayer rise up, like incense before you” ... we try to learn Psalm 141 together by singing it over and over and over again…

“That guy’s truck has an overactive blinker”

Watching Moulin Rouge

Rick says, “The more time I spend with you, the less you look like Natalie Portman and the more you look like a mouse.” I say, “So I look like a rodent instead of a hot girl.” Rick: “Mice are cute.”

“Some people just wanna fill the world with silly love songs.” We learn to sing the Elephant Love Song Medly from Moulin Rouge

“Come What May, I will love you till my dying day..” We learn a little more about sacrifice every day.

Scatter-brained

One thing you will learn after spending a week with me is that I am scatter-brained. Same goes for Rachel. Whether it’s a Latin case/person ending or forgetting something every day of the week, I’m just probably not paying attention. That’s why it took Rachel and I twenty-five minutes to find where we parked.

Let My Prayer Rise Up Like Incense Before You

On Wednesday Rachel and I went to the Holden Evening Service by Marty Haugen. We fell in love with, and have since been singing that version of Psalm 141:

REFRAIN: Let my prayer rise up like incense before you, the lifting up of my hands as an offering to you.

O God, I call to you, come to me now; O hear my voice when I cry to you. (Echo)

REFRAIN

Keep watch within me, God; deep in my heart may the light of your love be burning bright. (Echo)

REFRAIN

All praise to the God of all, Creator of Life. All praise be to Christ and the Spirit of love.(Echo)

Fallen off the edge of the earth

Contrary to popular belief, I haven’t fallen off the edge of the world. I’ve just been extremely busy. I love blogging and all, but Rachel simply drives me wild. So, I’m busy being driven wild. In my free time, I have been doing a million things from editing a booklet to advising the ACCS on how to start a journal to well, okay, most of the time, I’m just off with Rachel. But can you blame me? She’s beautiful, smart, talented, and a host of other things. You may find it funny, but I had never really heard her play violin before. She’d always been to shy to play in front of me. She’s just…wow…she’s so good. She can just play anything by listening to it. I can just call out a song by Elton John or a Christmas song, and she’ll start playing…lol she even played American Pie. In any case, I’m smitten. So I’m busy being smitten and doing some work in between. Tonight we ate with Uriah Gunn and Katherine Rench. I hadn’t seen Kat in awhile, and this was my first time to meet Uriah. It was fun, and he reminds me of Rachel’s brother…not only in looks but voice, facial expressions, and some personality traits. Anyway, I should get to bed. Rachel is already in bed, and I’d rather be dreaming about her than blogging.

Never give in

“Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty-never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.”

Winston Churchill- October 29, 1941.

Funny criticisms

Some of you may have heard about when I was in Portland last May, and the fact that someone commented, “I don’t know why Rachel likes Rick. He has no personality.” Well, for those of you that know me in person, that’s pretty laughable. But I got another one. Today, someone said about me, “He lacks confidence.” giggle At least Jenn will get a good laugh out of that one.
