About NOT being a cute couple
Rick and I don’t exactly want to be thought of as one of those really cute couples that everyone says “aww” about. If Rick or I say anything regarding our relationship that may sound “sweet” or “cute,” it’s probably just being misinterpreted. There’s nothing cutesy about our relationship. It’s not exactly that we make an effort to avoid that reputation, but at the same time, we do want people to see something different when they see us together. We don’t have anything against cute couples; in fact, we really enjoy spending time with them because we find cuteness to be refreshing - in ANOTHER couple. As for me and my Rick, we will not be cute. (Well, it’s okay for me to be cute, or him to be cute. Regarding our relationship, that’s a different matter.) Our personalities may seem goofy and light-hearted a lot (which they can be), but we take life very seriously, and are intense about everything we do, say, and believe. Nothing is meaningless. Nothing is light and marshmallowy and sugary-sweet in our eyes. It’s all rich, deep, and beautiful. It’s all worth praising Christ for. It’s all worth glorifying God for. And God isn’t cute.
