Choirs
Something Kuma said in a comment of Rachel’s sensus plenior made me think of something. What do you think about choir placement in worship? Should it be in the back? On the side? In front? All around? I lean toward all around or side. I am not really adamant, but I don’t see why people think they need to be in the back. So what if we see them? They’re our brothers. Heck, I wanna see the body of Christ. No need to hide them just because they’re singing His praises. I hardly think seeing a choir is man-glorifying.
Summing it up
Yesterday, Jon came into town. We spent a few hours chatting about everything from ecclesiology to our vision to our future to Western culture. Good stuff. Jon got me some pasta for my birthday…the way to a man’s heart is through his belly.
Tonight Rachel and I went to a choir thingie. The girls sounded great. The guys were okay. Oh yeah, Tim was there too.
Scott Cunningham is back.
Choir Concert
Tonight Rick & Tim and I all went to a concert performed by the Spokane Falls Community College Choir. It was pretty impressive. I can see why SFCC is well-known for its music program. There’s a lot of talent, especially in the girls’ choir. It’s a shame that the guys aren’t better because I actually prefer men’s singing voices. A good portion were hymns and psalms (with Ave Maria stuck in there as well). There is just something about listening to a choir full of people (probably of mixed religions) who are all singing words to the True God of Scripture. I know that several of the choir members are Christians, but what about the rest? They illustrate the victory of God and His people even with their own actions. They acknowledge the conquering power of His kingdom even with their own words. Even now, tongues are confessing that Jesus Christ is Lord. Many probably don’t really mean what they sing, but they are still bringing glory to God. God will use every part of His creation for His glory, and He does.
Tonight was a beautiful manifestation of His glory.
