Disturbed

On Davey’s blog, the poll of the week is: “If Hollywood made a movie about Rick, which actor would play the man himself?”
a) Bela Lugosi
b) Jim Carrey
c) Robert Redford
d) Judi Dench

I’m very disturbed by the fact that Judi Dench is in first place.

Tomorrow is another day

After going to bed WAY too late last night, cancelling class this morning, and sleeping until afternoon, I think this day is pretty much shot. I need to get over this cold. Tomorrow I’ll be leaving for Portland after teaching lessons. I’ll also be traveling to Vancouver, B.C. I’m looking forward to it all but I am going to have a hard time without my Rick for so many days. (LOL, there will only be 3 days where I won’t be able to see him, but that sounds like a lot to me. I must be spoiled.) I’ll be back to blogging on Monday. I gotta rest up, take vitamins, and pack. Please pray for my safety for the entire trip.

I’ve learned my lesson

It’s definitely an advantage to have my advertisement and contact info up on the bulletin board at the music store where I teach. I’ve gotten about half of the students that I now have through that poster on the board. But there is a scary side to giving out information like that, too. I just realized that scary side today.

The phone rings.

Me: “Hello?”

A guy responds: “Yeah, is Rachel there?”

“This is Rachel.”

“Oh hey, awesome. Right on. So, do you play in the symphony?”

“Umm.. I used to.”

“You’re a violinist, right?”

“Yes.”

“That’s so awesome. My friend plays the violin.”

I am wondering why the heck some random guy just called me to talk about my being a violinist. Then he gets to the point… or tries to.

“So I’m thinking about taking bass lessons.”

“Well, I only teach violin.”

Awesome. That is just totally cool. Violin is just awesome.

Uh huh. (I had nothing else to say.)

So, I see you every Thursday at Strings n More.

Okay, so, are you interested in violin lessons, or

Oh yeah. I totally am. Totally. Yeah. Yep. Thats what I want. This he says after mentioning taking BASS lessons from me. I dont think he really cared WHAT instrument I taught. Whichever it was, he was interested in it.

I think, This is a freak and I should run fast. Then I say, Well, give me your number, Ill check my schedule, and see if theres any open spots for you. Im planning on filling up my schedule quickly.

Of course, that wasnt good enough for him. He called again this evening. Twice. I didnt pick up the phone. I dunno what to do.

Oh, you sound better today. You’ve been like a woman on menopause; I never know when you’re on your period when I call.”

Excuses

I didn’t realize that the last time I blogged was so many days ago. I haven’t really had anything to say, and I’ve been really busy. I’m either tired or busy these days. I feel like such a normal person. But soon I’ll try to get back to more regular blogging. Sorry for my absence.
