Oh, because he took us into an illegitimate war in Iraq. He lied about that same war. He's increased the size of the government drastically. He's set to be the biggest spender since Johnson. He's done nothing for the pro-life movement. He's nominated good judges but not supported them. He's appointed several open homosexuals to his administration. He's got us into Liberia.

I could go on, but those are some of my major beefs.

Illegitimate? Go cry a river and join the UN. What are we to do as Christians if some dictator is slaughtering thousands of his own people? Plus, we needed to get a good base in the Middle East, and Iraq was the perfect target. The United States relies too much on oil. I think it was a brilliant move for Bush.

He cut off foreign aid for abortion. Haven't you been watching the news?

1. Whatever you think of the war, it wasn't "illegitimate" by any normal standard. Arguably, UN resistance to the war was illegitimate given that the war, not abstinence from it, was the logical response to the UN's own mandates. Further, it was waged by several legimitate nations.

2. Nowhere has Bush "lied" about the war. That is a certain way of characterizing it that just doesn't hold. Even the British evidence that Iraq met with Al Qaeda is far from impeached.

3. Bush has increased the size of government chiefly as it relates to national security. Nationalizing the jobs of the bag checkers was an unavoidable compromise with the democrats. Further, the combination of departments into the new "Homeland Defense" department was the only way to get the various agencies talking given our present system. All of the things you would like to see Bush eliminate from the Federal government would get him skewered politically. Nobody talks about getting rid of the Dept. of Education anymore for that simple reason.

4. I'd like to see your evidence that Bush did not support his judges. Namely, tell me one thing Bush could have done that would have not hurt him and yet forced the democrats to do the right thing on the nominations.

5. Last time I checked, it was still the law in the United States that competent people despite their sexual orientation couldn't be excluded from consideration for employment.

6. Liberia doesn't bother me too much. Perhaps you've just got too tight of a standard for what the federal government can/should do. But most of us are beyond both the realpolitik and Theonomic minimalism.

Hi. Liberia - Bush pre-election pledged not to engage in nation-building. Iraq - no WMD, no declaration of war, got UN resolutions though. Government - $87 billion for Iraq security, while our borders are not secured. Check again - Bush isn't bound by EEOC for his appointees. People - how many of his people have WE killed? Over the years, what have we done for Tutsi, Russians, Chinese, Tibetans, Cambodians, Sudanese, etc? We found religion? GOP - next time I won't worry about who's "electable", building the party and seeing abortion in light of the "big picture". Friedrich - took me 20 years to get where you are now. Me - back to lurking.

Ed,

your comments are lacking a few things: 1) unity, 2) purpose, 3) evidence.

Pieter,

you too.

I can say from experience that the core of the republican party is not only uber-conservative, but uber-Christian. Uber Godly.

Bush isn't perfect, but he is pretty good. Hopefully, we can and will do alot better.

Pieter, btw, do you support McClintock? I do. I think the GOP really screwed up by supporting arnie; Although, many important types in the republican party do support Tom.

Actually, Barlow, sexual orientation is not a protected class under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, or under the Equal Employment Opportunity Act. Only Age, Sex, Race (color), Nation of Origin, Religion, and Military Service are covered against discrimination.
