After Rachel heard I wasn’t coming over tonight…

“Oh, that’s okay. I’ll just cry me a bottle of tears, and the next time you come over…I’ll smash it over your head.”

Too tired to blog?

Well, that’s what I said. I guess it’s not really true. I’m just too tired to think back at the weekend. My thoughts of the weekend kinda go like this: “That WSU game was super duper cool…blah blah…Church at Trinity Reformed…blah blah blah…Chillin with Rijel and Vlad…blah blah…how’d I get home?”

Speaking of Rijel, she mentioned we’ll be having incense at the wedding. We’re going to use Marty Haugen’s Now the Feast and Celebration as the majority of the setting. And we’ll hopefully have handbells too.

I miss Bible studies

Not necessarily the study, or even the food and fellowship. I miss a buddy grabbing a guitar and just singing from my heart. That’s one thing I really like about going to Salem Lutheran. The music goes with my heart as well as my mind. Not to make another dig at the Cantus, but my heart is hardly ever in those songs. I can get into a Welsh/Irish tunes and occasionally something Genevan, but for the most part, Cantus music is like drinking a Guinness, and I don’t even drink beer. I like apple juice and sweet tea.

Ungrateful

I have a habit (read “sin”) of being an ingrate. I can see through the window in my office into the classroom, and I see worshippers with their eyes closed. When I was at Belhaven, I couldn’t stand that people weren’t theologically perfect. I was an ingrate, in every sense of the word. Teaching at Whitworth has reminded me a lot of my Belhaven days because Whitworth is pretty much Belhaven, minus a dance program and placed in weather about 40 degrees colder. I seriously miss the community of college. Nathan was two doors down. In between us were the Wright brothers. Our hall was filled with the coolest of the cool guys in the freshman class of 98. I miss RUF, and I miss the Christian fellowship that wasn’t Reformed, but rather charismatic. It had some cool songs…I remember one that came from Luke. Ah…anyway, I am gonna go. Enjoy life. Enjoy Christ. Enjoy worshipping Him not only in depth, but also simply…but never cheaply.

My heart and flesh cry out for You

Posted by Rick in Uncategorized (Monday November 10, 2003 at 7:24 pm)

I’m in my office, and in the classroom next door, I hear singing, and I am not sure what they’re singing. I can make out:

My heart and flesh cry out for You the living God
Your Spirit’s water for my soul
I’ve tasted and I’ve seen, come once again to me
I will draw near to You, I will draw near to You

It’s nice to be able to sit in my office and hear people praise the Lord.

Back from Moscow

A day late though as Rachel’s dad’s car’s alternator went out.

The WSU game was quite fun, and since Rachel’s dad bout the ticket, free. WSU whipped UCLA pretty bad, but I think the most noticeabale thing was that each team had 6 or 7 turnovers. I felt like my eyes were being thrown across the ropes in the WWF. Got to hang out with Rijel and Vlad and Isaiah. I’m too tired to blog.
