Bowl game matchups

This should be an interesting year. I am hoping Michigan beats USC in the Rose Bowl so that there is no dispute as to who the champs are when OU smashes LSU. The coaches are voting for USC because Oklahoma has won too many championships recently, but USC is in 3rd place in the BCS. Their schedule was easy. I could have gone undefeated in their schedule by myself.

All three major Oklahoma teams(OU, OSU, Tulsa) made the bowls (not surprising since Oklahoma football is the best).

The other game I am interested in is Washington State versus Texas. I am interested in this because I find the Pac-10 to be weaker football because it’s in the northwest, and well, they just don’t play ball up here like they do in the South. WSU has fumbleitis, and I think Texas will capitalize. I think Texas will wallop WSU, but I can’t help but root for the Cougs to vindicate the Pac-10 and make me see that Pac-10 football is worth something…anything at all, except to be waterboys for Southern football teams.

    Rick,

We’ve got an intra-family rivalry in the Sugar Bowl: My children have wagered with their Lousiana cousins (two of whom are currently at LSU)that if OU wins the SB, the LA cuzzins have to wear OU caps all through next-year’s family reunion…(and to make it fair, vice-versa if LSU perchance should show-up and play ball).

I know you don’t know me, I guess I’m something of a lurker (but not the weird kind)…and I heartily agree with your summation…

Go Sooners!!! Rah, Oklahoma, Rah, Oklahoma!!! (More sickening gratuitous cheering and yelling, etc…)

Rick, what’s wrong with you? You need help. LSU is going to make Oklahoma look like the sissy boys they are! To think otherwise is just delusional.

Rick, actually the #1 vote was all over the board in the last polls. It could have been realy easy … as it was all season, if OU could have just been K-State.

    WE, TEXAS, even beat K-State.

Come on, Rick, no one thinks that OU has one too many championships recently. The only one I can remember would be the one championship three years ago … I was a freshman then.

Here are some more “dream” matchups:

    Luther College vs. Wright State

    Concordia University vs. Shepherd College

    Westminster College vs. Auburn

What grade were you in the last time Texas won a national championship? ;-)

I can’t really decide if I want U of M to beat USC. I do actually root for the school up north when they aren’t playing the Buckeyes, they’re a Big 10 school, and I have little or no respect for the PAC-10 (play some defense, already!); but I’d love to see USC mess up the BCS, and it really is never bad to see the school up north to lose.

Perhaps the most interesting game is the OSU-KSU game. I hope we win.

    No one cares about Miami-FSU.

    Otherwise, I’m rooting for LSU.

Dawn, don’t worry. OSU will be K State, most good teams do.

I hadn’t been back to this blog for awhile (I still have it on my blogroll)… I wanted to say: I hope that you both had a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year as well.

    Thanks!

The rumor is that Rachel has suffered a terrible accident and can not blog. Let’s see if some comments can revive her, and her dashing fiance.

  12. mike Says:

I heard that too. Something about them driving, getting hit, but drowning in a river … by a Baptist to boot.

  13. Tim Says:

Well, that does it. Personally, I think they finally eloped. Yay! Congratulations!

  15. Rick Says:

Yeah, I wasn’t sure they were gonna pull it off at the end…

  16. mike Says:

Good job. I was rather disappointed with my team (Texas), as they seemed disinterested and unprofessional. I suppose they had been wishing for a BCS game, but their actions were unexcusable. I think they displayed what is most wrong with NCAA sports.

    Oklahoma football sucks

What an interesting email address: sooner@osu.edu? That’s an interesting juxaposition.

Anyhow, Oklahoma is now 0-2 in bowl games … maybe we’ll let the Sugar Bowl count extra for “quality win”.
