Bloggers I’ve Met In Real Life

Posted by Rick in Uncategorized (Thursday October 7, 2004 at 5:51 pm)

I’m trying to compile a list of all the bloggers that I’ve met. I’ll list them below, but if you know, please tell me where to find Cory Kloth’s blog, if April Clark or Rijel still blog, if i’ve met you but forgotten to list you, if the person I linked no longer blogs, or if the link has changed. I just compiled a quick list from a year old bloglist I had and by looking at a few other people’s blogrolls. (And yes, I realize I didn’t list Forrest, Rebekah, Isaiah, or Holly.) I know I’ve met or know a ton more bloggers than this.

Turning into your parents

Posted by Rick in Uncategorized (Thursday October 7, 2004 at 11:57 am)

If my parents’ TV viewing didn’t consist of almost solely college football and WWF wrestling, I might say that I am turning into my parents. I think I may be turning into your parents. I watch the news and listen to it on the radio. I listen to CCM because I’m too afraid to never again find the station that plays classical music on my way to work. I watch vice presidential and presidential debates. I watch stocks. Ewww…what’s happened to me?

VP Debates

Didn’t you just love Cheney’s comment to John Edwards?

“I’m up in the Senate most Tuesdays when they’re in session,” said Cheney, turning to Edwards, D-N.C., whom he faulted for skipping lots of votes. “The first time I ever met you was when you walked on the stage tonight.”

Okay, so it was a little off. Cheney’s met him about four times. Obviously, he was quite forgettable each time.

Edwards has missed 38 percent of the 459 roll-call votes and all 45 votes since he became Kerry’s running mate.

Amazing.

Who is Jesus?

I recently watched Supersize Me by Morgan Spurlock (very good, btw, but like all documentaries, he draws stupid conclusions). (And yes, I watched Farenheit 9/11 too, but on to my point.)

He showed various kindergarten aged kids pictures of George Washington. About half of them recognized him. He showed them all a painting of Jesus (as He’s normally painted in America…ya know, Greek, blue eyes, flowing light brown hair). None of the kids recognized the image. Then he showed them pictures of Ronald McDonald…all of the kids identified him correctly.

I found this sad, and I was even a bit surprised. That doesn’t usually happen in front of my TV screen.

or write about it on the open travel guide

I’ve probably been to West Virginia in the past ten years, but I can’t recall any trips through or to there recently. I’ve also probably been to Maine and Rhode Island, but I can’t remember any trips there either because I would have been younger than five.
