Oh my darling

Please pray for my schnugglebunny. She fainted twice today. The first time was while she was sitting on a bench while I was checking out. The second time was while we were walking out. I had to pick her up and put her on the cart to wheel her out, and I think it freaked out some customers. When she started to come to, she thought she was floating, and we got her home, she had a 95 degree temp. I think it had risen by then because she had color back in her lips, and it was up to 97 within five minutes. Anyway, we’re going to the baby doctor tomorrow. *sigh*

Their Eyes Were Watching God: A Celebration of Cultural Division

In an age where liberalism is the view of the “educated,” multiculturalism becomes one of many gods. However, the present view of “multiculturalism” does not support the embracing of many cultures but rather promotes the consolidation of races. I remember a few years ago, under President Clinton, the face of a light-skinned mulatto woman gracing the cover of a magazine. A corresponding article told of how that woman was a symbol of the person of the twenty-first century. One of the many outspoken goals of the Clinton administration was the amalgamation of races into one race without distinction. I happened to recently be reading some criticism on the story, so as I watched Oprah Winfrey’s rendition of Their Eyes Were Watching God last night, I thought of how Hurston opposed this fusion of peoples. The story celebrates a division of cultures between the rural blacks and the industrial white race. Hurston believes this division between cultures is best for interrelations between the two cultures and intra-relation within African American culture.

Healing the sick

I’m feeling a bit icky today with a sinus headache and a runny nose. I’m also quite weary. It’s funny how whenever I feel sick, I feel especially close to God. It’s like I feel like I’m barely holding on, and he’s there to keep me up.
