Stuff…again

So, we bought tickets to Spokane. We’ll be there for about seven and a half weeks. We’re planning on going up to Seattle and Vancouver, BC, and hopefully Victoria, where we hope to meet Brianna.

School is almost out. I’m ready for a new semester. I’ll be teaching American Literature-Civil War to Present (Engl. 206) and Freshman Comp (Engl. 101) in the Summer II session.

Jon is my new neighbor, but I’ve hardly seen them. I’ve been swamped with work since I’ve been back.

That and my memory card on my PS1 won’t erase, so I won’t reset Jackie Chan Stuntmaster. I’ve been playing for about three days. I have one more level before I enter the Shaolin Temple.

My wife is beautiful. She’s starting to look a little pregnant. I wish I had a digital camera. The ultrasound is set for early next month. I can’t wait to find out the sex.

I always thought that nouns have gender, people have sex.

  2. Rick Says:

Gender deals with biological definition while sex deals with social definition. So, yes, sex would have been the better term, but gender isn’t necessarily wrong. I’ll change it just for you though…because I think you’re a wonderful person of the female sex and feminine gender.

  3. Rick Says:

btw, I prefer gender because I tend to fumble with my words when I’m not putting a lot of thought into them, so I end up saying things like, “I can’t wait for the sex!” or “I’m really excited about the sex!”

  4. Rachel Says:

yeah, when he was talking to the midwife, he said, “I just want the sex.” She was like, “Isn’t that how you got pregnant in the first place?” Hehe… now he tries to be more careful.

While you are in the Seattle area, be sure to check out Faith Presbyterian in Tacoma (a short ways from Seattle). The pastor of the church, Rob Rayburn, spoke at the last Family Advance here in Florida. His teachings are excellent. His church website is: www.faithtacoma.org.

What are you doing up so early?

  7. Rick Says:

We’re familiar with Pastor Rayburn. He’s advised us throughout Rachel’s case.

  8. Brianna Says:

Isn’t it the other way around? Sex = biological, gender = social?

  9. Rick Says:

Yes, sorry, that’s what I thought I typed. That’s why I said, “So, yes, sex would have been the better term.” I tend not to think on here. Blogheimer’s.

Doesn’t Brodie actually mean Peter Leithart is the pastor of that church?

    BWA HA HA HA HA!!!!!
