1. Wedding Crashers was really dumb.
2. I’ve only been teaching for two weeks this summer, and I’m ready for a vacation. Two more weeks.
3. This summer teaching schedule is rough. With the exception of watching Friends and working out, all I have time to do is read for my classes and grade papers.
4. We’ve been in bed by ten more often than not.
5. Kyrie definitely has girl parts. They’re clearer than her face on the ultrasound, so I’m sick of people making comments about her being a boy.
6. I’d be really shocked and annoyed if those three parts were really another three parts.
7. I can’t wait to go to Little Rock next month.
8. I wish I had more time to read!
9. Hey, I’ll get to see Nathan tomorrow.
10. I don’t know why I don’t just cut the carpet in Kyrie’s room. It would take 10 minutes.
11. I’d like to go fishing…somewhere cooler.
12. We eat fish a lot, especially salmon.
13. And fruit. Lots of fruit. I love mango smoothies.
14. I don’t understand why people like sugary or carb-filled food. If you’re gonna eat poorly, overload on a steak or chicken…something filled with yummy cholesterol ![]()
15. I’d really like to go rafting down the Illinois.
16. Or go on a cruise.
17. Or just go to the beach.
18. To be bitten by a shark…nevermind.
19. I should have enough frequent flyer miles for free tickets to Hawaii by next year.
20. Course we’ll have a baby, so I don’t know how smart it would be to go somewhere where I’d want to be on the beach the whole time.
21. I’m looking forward to mommy and Esther coming down in October.
22. As well as Forrest, Rebekah, and children.
23. And going up to Spokane in December.
24. And Birmingham in January.
25. I’d really like to go to Bristol sometime.
26. Or maybe visit Rachel’s relatives on Lake Erie.
27. I really wonder what Kyrie will look like.
28. Right now she kinda looks like this:
-+-< =
29. Especially when she's kicking her mother.
30. When she's not kicking her mother, she looks like this: >:-|-+-<=
31. Wow, I must be really bored.
32. Or delusional.
33. Or maybe I’m just starting to mock those long lists people put on their blogs.
34. Or I’m just lacking creativity and have run out of things to say.
35. Bye.

We’re also having a little girl. It’s funny how clear as day those girl parts are on the ultrasound, which is so obtuse I cannot usually make out anything at all. But when the doc showed us the girl parts I said, “Yep. That’s a girl.” Same thing when the boy parts came up four years ago. The head and face are another matter entirely.
Did you guys use that three-dimensional ultrasound? If so, is it cool? I heard that many midwives have it (at least, down here, that is the case), and so was thinking the other day maybe you guys got it done. I wonder if hospitals all used that 3-D technology how it might help facilitate greater attachment between parents and their unborn. One thing we always feel like is until the baby is actually born, there’s so little felt-attachment with the baby. It makes Paige kind of sad sometimes. (Maybe this is why some women and girls are able to abort their unborn - the lack of attachments).
Anyway, I see your random thoughts and raise you a random comment.

We don’t use the 3-D. I’ve seen friends’ videos. It really doesn’t look that much clearer to me. Especially not in the earlier stages. Then again, I have a hard time distinguishing any of those things.

Yeah, after Rick and I first saw Kyrie on ultrasound, it was absolutely amazing. It made the concept of having a baby so much more real to us. After the appointment, Rick said something like, “I think every woman planning to have an abortion should be required to see it on an ultrasound first.” I just can’t imagine any woman seeing her little baby’s fingers and toes and litle legs kicking and still want to abort.

I wish I could figure out a way to go to Little Rock next month, too. I’m afraid I won’t be able to use any vacation time, though, as I took off last week for the BH conf. What’s in Birmingham in January?

Btw, do you know that we can make new posts on your blog? I made a test post last week and promptly deleted it after realizing that it published.

Hey Rick and Rach, so glad you’re having a girl! She’s gonna have Rick wrapped around her little finger..or not..I don’t really know that’s just what people say when they find out someone is having a girl. anyhow, I love Friends. the show. I like random posts like yours too, it made me laugh. Maybe one day we’ll see you guys in Spokane…

Jon,
Winter Conference and Ecclesiology 3.
Thanks for the heads up. You’re not supposed to be able to make a post unless you have level 9 clearance, so I’ll talk to Nikkiana about it.
July 25th, 2005 at 7:26 pm
I checked with Nikkiana. She said that the only people that should be able to see those posts are those logged on as Jon. If you want, you could make a post and log in as Hollie and see if it’s still there. Or you could make all sorts of posts and say asinine things. it could be fun.

July 25th, 2005 at 7:28 pm

I didn’t think pregnant ladies were supposed to eat salmon. Maybe it was tuna. Anyway, something about mercury…
July 26th, 2005 at 1:36 pm
Rick, just go buy plenty of pudding, and you should have enough frequent flier miles in no time. *grin* It was great seeing you guys the other night, ttys man.
July 26th, 2005 at 1:38 pm
Or is it flyer? The fact that I’m not sure reveals that I’m no frequent flyer.
July 27th, 2005 at 12:38 am
When I tested it from Florida, I posted as by me, then logged out and could still see it.
