Outta power

So our power went out on our block. Actually, it went out while we were getting ice cream and icees and candy at the gas station…so we got all that stuff for free. That’s the good side. The bad side is our house was getting too hot, so we ran up here to my office. Of course, it’s only our block that doesn’t have power.

Interesting email I received this morning

To: employees
Subject: Revision to the Basic Contract on the Web Site

We have been required by the Office of Contractual Review to add the words “sexual preference” to the paragraph detailing with discrimination (Section 11).

The basic contract document on the web site has been updated and is now correct.

Please do not use prior versions of the contract since they are outdated and will be returned if submitted.

If you have questions, please call or email.

thanks

crafty

As much as I miss all my family and friends in Spokane, there’s something nice about being back in our own place. It’s horribly boring when Rick’s gone, though (and he’s always back by mid-afternoon. I’m pathetic.) I am enjoying being able to cook for Rick again on a regular basis in my kitchen. I’ve also picked up a couple hobbies (which may end after the baby’s born). I’ve never made curtains before, but I figured they’d be really easy, so I didn’t buy a pattern or anything. I got some really cute baby fabric for the nursery and made some simple curtains for the windows. They look so great! I was even surprised. I decided to go ahead and made some yellow and white checked curtains for our kitchen (the theme colors will eventually be blue & yellow… it’s headed that way), but I wasn’t as careful with them. All the measuring I did was by eye, so they don’t look as professional, but they still are cute and homey. I also got those wooden letters to spell out Kyrie and painted them white and hung them over her crib in the nursery. I’m sure I’ll be coming up with a gazillion more craft ideas for the nursery, but unfortunately Rick’s wallet isn’t bottomless. Are there any good hobbies to pick up that are free?

Long haired hippies

When I got back to Monroe, I noticed that all the babies (Levi, Archer) that had short hair when I left now have long hair. Matt Wilkins is in a long hair phase again too. He can never seem to make up his mind about it. BTW, Matt will be with Natalie Portman in San Diego this week. Watch your local news. I’m sure you’ll see him being arrested.

Envy

I really envy people who can buy a book and not buy another book until they’ve finished the one they just bought.
