SadnessPosted by Rick on October 30th, 2005
It’s sad that the best service I’ve been to in Monroe is probably a Roman Catholic one. sigh
My Ecumenical Daughter Smells Like IncensePosted by Rick on October 30th, 2005
Kyrie turned a month old today. She celebrated it by going to her fourth and fifth different churches. At 30 days old, she has worshipped at two Presbyterian churches, an Episcopal church, a Baptist church (Northminster), and a wonderful Roman Catholic celebration. We just returned home from the Scholar’s Mass, and my daughter smells like incense. Mmm.

I’m a silly first-time momPosted by Rachel on October 28th, 2005
This morning when Kyrie woke up, she was all smiley. I smiled back at her and said “hi,” and she cooed something back that sounded exactly like “hi.” I know that this is just a coincidence and she didn’t know what she was saying, but it was just hilarious and the cutest thing ever.
But other than this morning, she’s been a grump. She has an excuse though: my poor baby’s got a cold. She’s finally napping and I’ve got the house back in order, but these last couple days she’s been the queen of fussiness.
I’m SO happy because I got my kitchen remodeled. It took major damage to get our landlord to have it done, but hey! I’m not complaining anymore. We have new lower cabinets and the floor that was sinking has been given a new foundation. The new countertops look GREAT. The only thing now is that the upper cabinets clash with the lower ones – they’re off-white while the new cabinets are white – but we might be able to get those painted to match. I also got a better sink that’s much deeper. The one I had before was really shallow. This one hides dirty dishes much better.
My little girl is 4 weeks old today. She’s such a chub. I totally love chubby babies now. They’re so soft and kissable. She just looks so roly-poly and healthy. I can’t wait to find out how much she’s gained. We really need a scale.
I’d better go enjoy the peace and clean while it lasts.

I’ve officially taught my daughter how to snort. We’re working on an owl’s “hoo” now. I wonder if I couldn’t find a book that talked about what the best sounds to teach a kid (and in what order were). I mean should you start with voiced or voiceless? fricatives or affricatives? what about glottals? I mean, this is too fun.

I had noticed my 414 (H) had been going down a few dollars a day for the past two weeks which is unusual because it’s usually going up. I checked it today, and it had increased 13% overnight. I have to wonder what the heck is going on in the market. Anything big happen?
