What’s a Christmasgram? I want one!

Okay, so we’re ready for Christmas down here in the Southland. Well, we’re ready to leave the Southland for Christmas. We’ve been watching Christmas movies for a week or two: Elf, The Family Man, It’s a Wonderful Life, etc. (by the way, put the last two on my Christmas list…we have Elf).

I’m aching for Advent. I need a change of pace. I thought a kid would take up more time, but we’re still pretty bored. And no, we’re not making another one quite yet, so don’t even suggest that.

I can’t wait to get to Spokane and snuggle and drink hot chocolate. We’re doing that here, but it’d be cooler with snow and our friends.

Maybe she’s training for the priesthood. You should have heard her prayer.

Rent

One of the trailers advertises it, “The musical phenomenon that defined a generation.” And it truly is.

While I am by no means advocating some of the moral choices in Rent, the play stikes a chord within me. And I really can’t wait to see the new movie. I’ll be driving to Tulsa on the day it comes out to spend Thanksgiving with my family, but I hope to catch a late showing of it that night. Maybe I can convince Rachel to let my mom babysit Kyrie.

I’m a sucker for musicals. Throw in a play about people that I know, and I’m hooked.

Eight Friends. One Extraordinary Year. Love. Hope. Struggle. Triumph. And Tony from Dazed and Confused….Rent.

You’re Cry, the Beloved Country!

by Alan Paton

Life is exceedingly difficult right now, especially when you put more
miles between yourself and your hometown. But with all sorts of personal and profound
convictions, you are able to keep a level head and still try to help folks, no matter
how much they harm you. You walk through a land of natural beauty and daily horror. In
the end, far too much is a matter of black and white.
