So school started today. I’ve been working nonstop since I arrived here at the school, and with my first break, I thought I’d blog. I have a night class in fifteen minutes. Phew.
We’ve either been guests in someone’s house or had guests at our house for the past six weeks. We spent four weeks in Spokane. Then we spent one back in Monroe during the AAPC pastor’s conference where we hosted a guest from Dallas.
On the last day of that conference, we drove to Birmingham for the Anglican Mission in America’s Winter Conference 2006. We stayed with Rich and Jenny Lusk. It was good to catch up, and I’m excited about a few books that Rich is working on. The AMiA Winter Conference was very uplifting and a little disappointing at others. The opening service was three hours long. Archbishop Kolini said he wanted us to feel like we were in Africa…ha. Ron Sylvia and Jon Schuler had a few really good lectures on church planting.
We arrived home on Sunday night, and well, we didn’t go home. We went over to Matt Wilkins’ house to watch 24 that he had TiVo’ed. The first 20 minutes of the season were awesome. I’m glad we got four hours in two days.
In my 102 class this morning, I started with Shakespeare. About halfway through the class, I realized I picked about five of the most depressing Shakespeare passages. I urged my students not to kill themselves. :-/
Well, I gotta get back to work.
