Grunt

So I’ve been hitting save instead of publish for several posts over the last four days, so I just published them. Read them if you want.

VeggieTales

Some of my favorite snacks are red, yellow, and orange peppers. I love how the water bursts out of them when you eat them. I also love cucumbers, though sometimes I like to put salt on them. And olives. I like carrot bits on salads and maybe a bit of that red cabbage. Who can deny an onion? Spring makes me think of all those yummy vegetables.

And what about fruit? Canteloupes, honeydews, and pineapples. Cherries, blueberries, and strawberries. Oranges, tangerines, and tangelos. Mangos, guava, and papayas! Apples, pears, and bananas!! Kiwi, peaches and plums

Car and Plane

Okay, so plane tickets to Spokane are the cheapest I’ve seen then in five years (which is still more than they should be), but we have about 13 days until we can afford to buy them. Ugh. I hope they will hold there til then.

So I brought our car in to fix the brakelights this morning. And when I got there, the problem wasn’t presenting itself. Of course, since it’s disappeared once before, it is sure to come back, so we ordered the replacement part, and I agreed to come back tomorrow to get it fixed. Great.

As I was about to leave, the car wouldn’t move out of park. I thought, “Please don’t be the transmission.” I’ve lost two of my last three cars to the transmission, and Ford’s aren’t the best when it comes to transmissions. After taking apart the console, it fortunately was just that my locking mechanism had broken. He broke off the rest of the locking mechanism, and it was fine.

I find it ironic that I go in to get a car problem fixed, and I get a worse problem while I’m there. I told my mechanic, “I think this car is on its way out.” He checked over it and said, “This thing has a lot of life in it yet. And since you are wanting to get a van soon, this is the kind of car you would get a lot on in a trade.” Sweet.

Alan Jacobs on Wheaton’s Handling of Joshua Hochschild’s Conversion to Catholicism

Scot McKnight notes the words of Alan Jacobs, a Wheaton English professor who also co-taught an Anglican Ecclesiology course that I took, on Wheaton’s choice to not renew Catholic Joshua Hochschild’s contract. Food for thought.

Spring & Summer

Today it wasn’t quite as frigid as it has been the past few days, so I decided to rake the front yard. It was wonderful being able to breathe the fresh air & get some exercise. A robin was hopping around on the ground, reminding me that spring is here, even though it hasn’t felt like it lately. I was able to rake all the leaves into a GINORMOUS pile. Now we need to buy lawn & leaf bags. While I was outside, I was getting inspired to start a garden. I want to start small, and I need to figure out when the best times to plant are in this region. I want a small vegetable garden, some herbs, and maybe a couple flower beds in the front. I’ve always wanted window boxes filled with petunias, alyssum, & ivy. I do know that the ivy grows pretty well in this climate (we have it growing wild and climbing up one of our tree trunks) and I especially want it for some window boxes so that it can climb up the ugly bars we have over our windows. That should make them look nicer. I don’t know how much money I’ll have to put into a garden the size that I’m considering, but I am hoping that during harvest time I could maybe save a few bucks on produce. We’ll see if this ever materializes into anything.

Noooo!!!!!

I am so frustrated and upset and disappointed that Gonzaga lost to UCLA. I think what makes it even more crushing is the fact that they maintained such a good lead until the end of the game. My heart physically hurts. I can partially identify with Morrison’s emotions (pulling his jersey over his face and falling to the floor). Ugh! I know I’d feel exactly the same way if I were him. Well, I’m done following March Madness and honestly don’t care who wins anymore. Don’t I sound like a sore loser? ;) Well, it is kinda cool that LSU beat Duke. But that doesn’t fix anything.

WordPress 2.0

Okay, it’s only been installed about 15 minutes (thank, Nikkiana!), but I am in love. I’ve added some new categories, like home, television, and death (those of you with the highest user level, which is mostly family, should be able to see some posts there). The new version also makes it easier to use post levels, so I expect that I’ll be using post levels more often…so sign in!

The new version also makes it mucho easy to upload pics and video, so there’s no holding us back now.
