10 months old

Kyrie is 10 months old today. No, I am not going to say “she’s been outside of me as long as she was inside,” as many mothers do, because that happened about a month ago. Lots of women try to claim that they’re pregnant for 10 months and neglect to say that it’s lunar months. Hehe. Silly rabbit trail there. Anyway.

Kyrie is standing alone all the time now. She’s cruising much more quickly and isn’t as careful to hold onto furniture as she walks around now. We have yet to see her take her first unassisted steps, but she walks very well only holding one of Mommy’s hands. She’s babbling more than ever, giggling, eating cheerios and certain fruits (kiwi and mango were most recently on the menu), waving, clapping, playing peek-a-boo, and doing just about everything else a baby is expected to do. She’s a joy and a challenge and a big bundle of cuteness. Happy 10 months, Kyrie!

Make sure to get him/her a copy of “Why Mommy Is a Democrat.” Check out the sample pages.

Livin’ in the South

Posted by Rachel in Miscellaneous, Religion and Culture (Thursday July 27, 2006 at 7:24 pm)

There are little words and phrases that daily remind me that I live in a very different culture than the one I grew up in. For example, when we went to the grocery store this afternoon, one of the employees offered us a “buggy” (I’ve always called it a shopping cart). A little while later, I heard a little girl tell her mother, “Mawmaw, I want some black-eyed peas!” Hehe. There is some cuteness to the culture, I must admit.

Conservative tripe

This is the stuff that makes me so glad I’m not a “conservative Republican” with “traditional American values”: The Ad Everyone Is Talking About. This sorta stuff [restraining as much as possible] is not the answer to our problems.

Update: Okay, I couldn’t just leave it at that. This ad just makes me sick, sick, sick. I believe strongly that the Bible is pro-life and that marriage is what it is because of what God said it is. But where is the compassion? Where is the love?

Is raising your fist like Osama bin Laden the answer to gay marriage or abortion? Are closed borders the religion of Jesus? You gotta be kidding me.

Well, I was fully intending to post pictures since I’d gotten some comments, but now they’re not uploading for me… hopefully I’ll have the problem fixed soon.

Picture Strike

You wouldn’t believe some of the cute pictures of Kyrie I’ve got on our camera. Unfortunately, nobody’s commented on the last few posts, all pertaining to Kyrie…so I’m guessing nobody wants to see the new pictures.

(muahahaha)

First sentence

Well, with a little prompting, Kyrie said her first sentence yesterday. She waived at me and said, with very concentrated effort, “Hi, Papa.”
