Evelyn and Kyrie

We had a great time with the Companiks this week. :D Kyrie loved playing with Evie (Ewie, she called her) and was sad to see her go this morning. Here are some pictures of some of the fun they had together.

Being back home

Well, it’s nice to be home…and it’s sad, too. We’re all feeling a little lonely and we’re missing the fantastic Northwest weather, but we’re glad to have our own space again. I feel bad for Kyrie. She asks to go outside every day, and I have to tell her that it’s too hot. Today I said, “But in a couple months, we’ll be able to play outside!” Yeah, try getting a toddler excited about something she’ll have to wait two months for. Maybe we’ll get some pleasant weather before that. I can dream.

Rachael & Jonathan and Evelyn are all coming tomorrow for a visit, which I’m rather excited about. We last saw them in April. Kyrie is much more toddlerish now and I’m eager to see how she’ll play with Evelyn this time. They played really well last time, but Kyrie is communicating verbally quite a bit more now.

Um, I can’t think of anything else to write about. Rick has meetings all day and Kyrie is in her highchair eating a banana while watching Curious George in French. I should do some cleaning, but my back has been killing me as of late. I think it has to do with being 25 weeks pregnant, carrying a toddler around, and recovering from a 2300 mile road trip.

Oh Happy Day

We just returned home from Natchez, MS, where we witnessed the wedding of my dear friend Nathan Blevins to his new bride, Courtney. I have joy in my heart from this great occasion. The wedding was at a plantation home, Stanton Hall, and went off without a hitch. Well, there was one hitch. Nathan had just been released from the hospital after an emergency appendectomy. Something so bad couldn’t happen to a better person the day before his wedding. In spite of his pain, he had a big smile on his face.

Lovely Baby

On a recent trip to NYC, my mom picked up a baby doll in Chinatown. The box has some great Engrish. On the top of the box, it says, “Rocking and sound a beautiful music.” On the back of the box, next to pictures of the actions, it reads “She sway her head” and “She moving legs.” Heh.

U.S. breastfeeding statistics

Kristen linked this and I thought I’d pass it along. I’m proud of my homestate, but look at Louisiana’s numbers. Depressing! The southern states have a lot of room to improve.
