9/11 and respiratory problems

My dad is one of the volunteers from who has suffered respiratory problems since 9/11. They’ve been diagnosing these problems for six years, and now they’re saying that some people haven’t started to see the symptons that they will be getting in the future.

Scary thought…

I had a scary thought today: my current students were in elementary school when I started teaching college students. Yep. Fifth graders.

Nice

My home is clean, Kyrie is sitting on the couch coloring in her coloring book, and it’s only 75 degrees outside. And it’s cloudy (which I like), and not too muggy. Today is turning out to be even nicer than yesterday. I’m trying to ignore the fact that the forecast is predicting weather in the 90’s again in a few days. I’m just going to enjoy this and pretend that fall is really here to stay.

I would take Kyrie outside, but our backyard is totally infested with fire ants. She stepped on an ant hill the other day and her little feet got bitten up. I felt so bad. There’s nothing really to do outside, other than take a walk. And when I try to do that with her, she wants me to carry her. Silly girl. So I’ll just look out the window and think about how nice it is, and how the house is staying cooler and the AC isn’t overworking itself.

ETA: I couldn’t help it. The weather was beckoning me, and we went outside and Kyrie played in the dirt and rocks of our front yard (that’s basically all our front yard is). We also found chalk to draw on the sidewalk and collected leaves to do a little craft project with. So I guess with a little creativity, there really was something to do outside.

Is it ridiculous that I want hot cocoa because it’s in the 70’s?
