A few thingsPosted by Rachel on October 1st, 2007
I made it to my nursing goal of 2 years with Kyrie. Yay! It was my last of a series of goals (1 year, 18 months, then 2 years) and I’ll probably gently encourage her to wean before Antonio comes along. It won’t be a big deal if she wants to continue with a once-a-day sort of schedule after baby’s here, though.
The butterfly cake I made is pretty yummy. When I had a piece yesterday I was afraid that maybe it was a bit dry, but I’ve eaten several pieces since (solely for the purpose of evaluating its quality) and it’s chocolatey and moist, so yay! I think I’m going to be sick.
I’ve been checking weather.com pretty obsessively, just looking for hope that fall will be here eventually. October 9th looks like it will be a good day (77 and sunny) so I am very much looking forward to that!
Kyrie says that her new shoes are Spiderman shoes. If you look at them in the pictures below, you might see why she thinks so. The grey parts sort of look like the eyes to a Spiderman mask. She’s a big Spiderman fan so it works out. I can still get my daughter girly things and make her think I’m getting Spiderman things for her.

I am amazed at your ability to nurse so long. I can’t imagine what it would be like to be able to do that. For me, 6 months will be a huge accomplishment. I do envy women (999 out of 1000) for whom nursing comes easily/naturally. I would love to be one of those people!
Great job on reaching your goals:)

That’s awesome that you were able to nurse that long while pregnant. I made it to 6 months with Evelyn before I lost my supply at 3 months pregnant, and I made it to 8 months with Michael before he decided he didn’t like the taste change due to pregnancy and quit. Which was really weird — it wasn’t a gradual strike, he just suddenly went cold turkey one day. I’m hoping I get to nurse Jonas a lot longer.

It’s amazing you made it that long with your two babies, being they were born so early. As you probably know, early babies have more difficulty nursing.
I think one of the reasons Rachel has been able to nurse so long is because Kyrie was so late, and Rachel nursed so often.
