Random Things

We’ll only be here for a few more weeks and most of the packing has yet to be done.

Allergies are still bugging me. I’m sneezing and sniffing as I type this.

Antonio loves rolling onto his tummy. Every time I put him on his back, he immediately rolls over.

Kyrie keeps saying, “I see Esther in a few weeks.” She’s been saying this every few minutes. I don’t think she understands the concept of a few weeks, though, because when she woke up she asked if we were going to Esther’s house. She also said, a few nights ago, “I miss Esther and Grandma Lisa. I LOVE them…SO much!” Last night, it was, “I see Uncle Forrest in a few weeks? I see Auntie Bekah in a few weeks? I see Noelle in a few weeks? I see the puppy in a few weeks? I see David in a few weeks? I see Timothy in a few weeks?” AHHH! She doesn’t. stop. talking.

She also said to Rick last night, “I need to go.” He asked her where, and she replied, “I go to work. No…I too little to go to work. Papa go to work. Papa’s big.”

I’m HORRIBLE at keeping up with everyone - you are moving to Spokane????? Or am I way off? hehe I love pics of you adorable kids! That son of yours! He’s a stud! Is he going to be a cheerleader? ;) hehe Had to tease Rick about that.

We had so much fun together and she didn’t even mention my name???? I’m a jerk.

LOL I’m sure she remembered you, Isaiah, but just ran out of breath. Haha.

Kat, we WANT to move to Spokane, but for now, we’re just moving out of this house. We’re staying with family in Spokane during the summer…and then we’ll either move to Spokane or to another house in Monroe. Our lives are a bit up in the air right now!

Rachel! This is Melissa Bennett, fyi…
I was wondering about your cloth diapering experiences. I need to get my supplies in the next couple weeks, and plan to use prefolds (as I already have a few dozen) with diaper covers. I notice you’ve used a few types: what are your favs? I am looking mostly at Bummis with snaps and Thirsties with velcro. Any opinions or tips on these (or others)? I am trying to be as thrifty as possible. :) Also: what type of diaper pail and cleaning/washing do you do?
If you want to shoot me an email, that works. :)

    Hi Melissa!

I use and love the Thirsties covers. I’m a sucker for their cute, bright colors. I ordered from nickisdiapers.com because she offers free shipping on all diaper covers.

Another type I like are proraps. They’re some of the least expensive. I think the fit is better than the Thirsties covers, but they don’t come in a wide range of color choices. Their classic ones are white and their colors are mint green, light blue & light pink.

I also have a Bummis super snap cover. I like it. The fit seems good. But I generally prefer velcro to snaps…I think you can get a more precise fit with velcro. Some people greatly prefer snaps, though, so I think it’s just personal preference.

What size are your prefolds? I started out with preemie, and I’m glad that I did — the jump between preemie and infant size is pretty big, in my opinion. Antonio is in infant size now. We probably used preemie for the first month or so.

Do you have any snappis or are you going with pins? I actually do neither — just trifold the prefold in the cover and fasten it. :D But I think if I did use something, it’d be the snappi!

Washing: I put all the diapers in a laundry basket and wash every other day. I usually do a hot wash with a second rinse. I generally don’t have odor issues, but if you do, you can sprinkle a little baking soda on the diapers or get a diaper odor remover spray, or use a pail with a lid, but with a lid, you’ll trap the odor in there and it won’t be pleasant when you open it. ;)

Oh, by the way, congratulations!! :) Are you still on facebook? I couldn’t find you on my friends list.

Thanks for the help, Rachel! I’ll look up the proraps. I think I might buy a couple different types of covers and experiment to see what I like: then invest in more of whatever my fav is. :)
My prefolds are infant size, but come to think of it I should probably get some smaller ones since everyone seems to predict I’m having a small baby. Watch me prove them all wrong and pop out a 9 pounder. Hehe. ;)
I’m not planning on using pins or a snappi either… but my opinion is the same as yours!
No, I’m not on facebook anymore. I try my darnedest to NOT be addicted to the internet… it’s a work in progress.
So hey, thanks again! It’s fun to look up your blog now & then and see your sweet family. Many blessings to you!
