Weird dreams…

I had some weird dreams last night. In the first dream, I was visiting my Rachel’s sister and her husband at seminary. I was talking to their oldest son, and he starts talking about Israel this and Israel that…which wouldn’t really be the theology they’d be getting at that seminary (but hey, it’s a dream). He starts telling me how he’s going to move there because it is the land of plenty, and I ask him what he’s going to do there. He says, “I’m going to sell them propane. Lots and lots of propane.” (Which is what his dad did before going to seminary.)

The other two dreams had to do with the Tea Party, and apparently, I was a really big fan in my dreams.

In the first dream, I was selling newspapers, and a guy says, “I haven’t been here in a really long time. Which pill should I take? The red pill or the blue pill?” I start walking with him and say, “If you take the red pill, your once lucrative career will be shipped overseas. You will be told unemployment is low because there will be many jobs, but they won’t pay enough to support a family. All the money will be taken to start wars around the world.” The guy replies, “So I should take the blue pill?” I say, “If you take the blue pill, you will work endlessly…if you can find a job. Half of your earnings will be given to drug addicts and prostitutes.” (Realize this isn’t really representative of my views.) The guy replies, “So which pill should I take?” By now, we’ve wondered through the city streets and an alley where dealers are peddling red and blue pills, and we’re at a harbor that has the background of San Francisco. I take a brown pill filled with tea and throw it into the brown harbor, and with a maniacal smile exclaim, “Take the brown pill…it’s for freedom!” The guy looks at me and says, “Uhhhh….I like freedom?” He pauses, turns around, and walks away. I’m pretty sure this dream was a commercial/ad.

The third dream is actually an alternative ending to the second dream. At the end of my spiel, the guy asks again, “So which pill should I take?” I reply, “Take the grey pill. The earl grey pill.” The camera pans out, and we’re wearing tuxedos with coat tails, while standing on a semi truck going down the highway. After handing him the pill, I dive off the back of the truck, into a limo which has no top, into a lake of grey tea. Yes, a limo-lake. The other guy is left on the top of the truck with a choice to make—the uncertainty of driving down the highway on top of a truck or…the peaceful calm of a grey limo-lake.

To my Ron Paul friends

So some of my former Ron Paul friends have switched their vote to Bob Barr since he’s the libertarian candidate. I’m not really a libertarian. Ron Paul has endorsed Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution party. I don’t know much about Baldwin, but Constitution Party folks tend to annoy me. A vote for Ron Paul would not likely be counted here in WA. I can’t vote Republican or Democrat this term in good conscience…not that I wouldn’t normally do that. I am not one of those that says, “Vote your conscience.” It’s just that both tickets seem inept to me. So…my RonPaulblican friends…who are you going to vote for (especially those of you in WA). Paul? The guy Paul endorsed? The libertarian ticket?

Last night I had a dream that I was arguing with someone (not sure who) about how McCain’s healthcare plan made more sense, because while Obama promised that he’d be able to reduce premiums by up to $2,500 a year, McCain is giving $5,000 refundable tax credits—at least double the savings of what Obama is promising.

Unfortunately I didn’t dream long enough to see how McCain’s plan was better for the uninsured. Maybe tomorrow night.

Check out the Democrat opponent of McCain’s buddy Lindsey. Bob Conley is said to have more in common with Ron Paul than with his own party. Kind of makes you want to go Democrat, right? RIGHT?

More political stuff

Okay, so just another political beef. I am getting so annoyed at pundits saying McCain chose Palin to get Hillary supporters. That’s just plain stupid. I wonder if they’re saying that just to make sure to turn off any stupid Hillary supporters. Palin was chosen to solidify the base. I, for one, had been praying McCain would choose Palin. I didn’t think that would make me vote for the ticket, but I might. I just might. Three major issues (which I won’t name) seem a bit fishy with this ticket, and I’d like to see them talk more.

I don’t see myself voting for Obama, and I think Palin did a good job tonight of naming some of the reasons. I’ve always liked Obama. I like his charm, his oratory skill, and I have to admit I like that liking him makes me feel less racist. But most of his positions are ridiculous, and the ones I like, I think he’s dreaming if he thinks he’s going to enact him.

Okay, so Obama’s speech was great last night (except for the annoying misquote of scripture at the end). I really enjoyed his humor, eloquence, and somewhat empty promises. I’m still annoyed he picked someone who whitens his teeth for his VP though. If McCain’s objective was to take away steam, he did it by picking Sarah Palin as his VP. That’s a home run. It just emboldens his image as a maverick. I’ve been thinking and hoping he might pick her just because it would make things interesting, but then all the stuff they’ve been saying in the last two days made me think he might go more traditional. Anyway, I am glad he picked her. Southerners will like her belief in state self-sufficiency It will add a little spice to his campaign. Plus, she’s from Sandpoint, which is like an hour away. Speaking of stupid reasons to like a candidate…

Rachel and I have a pet peeve in the current election. The people they are interviewing sound like they come right out of Idiocracy:

Commentator: Why are you voting for Obama?
Response 1: I want change!
Commentator: Why are you voting for Obama?
Reponse 2: Eight is enough!
Commentator: Why are you voting for Obama?
Response 3: Our troops need to come home right now!
Commentator: Why are you voting for McCain?
Response 4: He’ll drill for oil!
Commentator: Why are you voting for McCain?
Response 5: He’s a true conservative!

Oh my goodness, I swear these people just listen to campaign slogans and don’t stop and think for five seconds.
