Where’s that helmet?

So Kyrie decided to try to climb in the playpen today, like she often does, but she fell backwards, gashing her head open. Fortunately, it was on the back of her head, and it wasn’t too bad, but there seemed to be quite a lot of blood for bleeding less than a minute. Of course, all her hair was covered in blood and the back of her shirt had a bunch of blood on it.

We’re going to a Spokane Indians baseball game tonight, and I’ll be sure to bring my baseball glove to ward off any flying baseballs. I just wonder if we shouldn’t bring that helmet too.

ULM beats Bama t-shirts

This is just sad. ULM already has t-shirts commemorating their win over Alabama.

Quote of the day

I was ranting about how OU should be better ranked than LSU (my Sooner pride runneth over), when one of my female students piped up, “LSU deserves to be #2. They have a hot quarterback.”

Loving the underdog this year

Here’s what I would like to see happen, so that Rutgers can clearly play for the national championship. Rutgers has to win out, and hopefully, they can crush West Virginia.

I’d like to see California beat USC next week and Ohio State defeat Michigan. I’d then like USC to beat Notre Dame. LSU should knock off Arkansas. Florida will either have to lose against FSU or in the SEC championship game.

The Mets lost

Well, I can go back to life without TV, and maybe I can catch up with all my work now that the Mets are gone. Matt and I talked after the game for about forty-five minutes (with which I could have better spent my time). We’re in post-Met depression.

I am pretty sure that Cardinal fans aren’t even baseball fans. They’re just there to torture real fans.

Congratulations…again…

The ULM Water Ski Team won the National Collegiate Water Ski Association (NCWSA) National Championship Tournament. The ULM Water Ski Team has won the National Championships 19 times out of the 27 years it has been held.

Exhausted

Posted by Rick in Work, Family, Sports (Friday September 1, 2006 at 11:42 am)

When I woke up this morning, I was pretty sure that I never fell asleep. My mom is in town visiting, but I’m working another 14 hour day, so I probably won’t get to see her much. At least she’ll get to see who she came for :-)

I brought a can of coke to class today and held it up and said, “He’s going to teach today.” I think it did.

ULM’s defense looked great in our 24-6 whipping of Alcorn State last night. Our offense didn’t look so hot. 14-21 of our points really were set up by the defense or scored directly by the defense.

The fireworks after the game were some of the best I’ve ever seen. Two thumbs up.

*sigh* I have to go to class.

Spokane-baby

So I am sitting here making waiting for one last student to come make up his test (he got in a fender bender on the way here Friday). Then I will finish grading papers for my last class. Then I have to enter grades. Then I will have 8 weeks of vacation. I can’t wait to get out of here. We’re staying with the Mattsons before flying out of Little Rock. That’s always fun. I knew Greg and Melody in college, but I didn’t really know them. It turns out they’re a ton of fun. We’ve also gotten to know a couple friend of theirs from Saint Andrews, Marcus and Shannon. I’m not sure if their night will be open, but it would be nice to see them too. I wish we could get up to St. Andrews more often. *sigh*

Why is it that I can bounce 300 lbs off my chest while benching, and it feels good, but when my 20 lb daughter puts her hand on my chest the wrong way, it hurts? It must be because she’s pulling my skin when she does it.

D’Brickashaw Ferguson goes to the Jets

Posted by Rick in Sports (Saturday April 29, 2006 at 2:37 pm)

I was a little worried that after three years of despising Mr. Hollywood, Matt Leinart, the Jets would pick him. Instead they picked a New York native, an honor student who graduated a semester early (I didn’t think that was possible for a football player) in Religious studies, and a youth minister. Sweet.
